IN CLASS WRITINGS
ICW #10: Making Connections
This was an example of making connections to ideas we discussed in class along with how they are frequently seen outside of the class. As we watched the videos about the Stanford Prison Experiment and how people would step up to whatever roles they are capable of attaining, I was able to contemplate just how common these actions are. While we like to believe that we are free thinkers who can form our own opinions, we are subconsciously guilty of putting people in the position of telling us which the best opinions are.
This in class writing helped me collect my thoughts and apply them to real life connections on the topic. I believe that as much as I may try to over look the reality of how influential I allow others to be upon me, I need a reminder on how silly it is for me to think that I do not let people have power over me every single day. When I casually sit on my phone and check through my social media, the feelings that I get from viewing those deemed socially popular says a lot about how I form my opinions further from that. I feel as if I need to make connections like this and get the reality check which follows or else I am hindering myself from some forms of self growth.

ICW #18: An instance of epiphany
I found my in class writing on the science of persuasion to be an instance of epiphany because the more I wrote, the more I was able to develop my own understanding on the subject and how I can work to utilize this newly learned information in the future. The things we do in our lives are greatly influenced by the reactions of those around us, and if these positive reactions can fuel a change, we are making a difference. If I want to convince someone to support my photography business, it would be beneficial for me to photograph the person in a casual manner that I know they would like. In a sense, teasing them to show what they could get acts as a positive way to persuade them to keep showing interests. This writing made me realize that we are constantly "fishing" for the support of people, and they will leave if we do not give them a reason to remain interested. This is beyond useful information to consider as we enter a world where we try to persuade others.
I feel as if this in class writing was just one example of a time in this class where I have really had one of those "ah-ha!" moments because I learned so much about the science of my own thoughts throughout all of the texts which we examined. When I was able to bring it together and realize that the actions of the people who create these texts are all in an attempt to make me be a part of their audience, I was able to see how I could utilize the same idea to fulfill my goals as a writer as well.

ICW #19: A tool for developed thoughts
This in class writing in particular has acted as a tool for developing my thoughts because it was something continued on the one in class text which really aggravated the hell out of me. As someone who has been surrounded by artists for my entire life and has had her own art be criticized, I see the many ways in which an artist faces consequences as a result of the emotions which a piece fuels. Art as a social statement and argument is a frequently used tool that gives people a chance to get all riled up simply because there is rarely a right answer for art.
As I wrote this ICW, I was able to see from the side of an artist just how important and unimportant a reaction from others can be upon the purpose. If a piece is made in order to offend someone, instead of getting so offended, sometimes people have to suck up their pride and move on. This course has allowed me to realize that some things are just plain stupid and not worth the energy of angry reactions.
